Sad to hear that our business neighbor, Tom Hilvers, owner of the Meadowbrook Inn in Ross, has died.
I never met Mr. Hilvers before, but just recently spoke to him on the phone regarding the Ross Self Storage Extravaganza.
Here’s a snippet of The Cincinnati Enquirer’s obituary about him:
Cincinnatians may recognize Tom Hilvers’ surname from Hilvers Catering, a Cincinnati business institution that was founded 78 years ago during the Great Depression.
To his family, Tom Hilvers, a Green Township resident, was a son, a brother, a father, grandfather and more – a man with a dry sense of humor who could fix anything. He died Saturday at age 64 due to complications from a heart attack.
My parents worked with Mr. Hilvers to allow our “Ross Self Storage” sign by Ohio State Route 128 to be posted on the sign below his Meadowbrook Inn sign. He never has charged us for this luxury – and we are grateful for it.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Hilvers’ family during this difficult time. Also, noted that his sister fell during funeral preparation and hurt her head, requiring stitches (according to the comment section on Enquirer.com). Very sorry to hear this as well and wish her a speedy recovery.
